Control

Life is full of surprises. Surprises that cause us to think why was I not more prepared for this?!

It always happens when we least expect it…

We feel the need to have control over everything…

The fear of something going wrong and I am left with trying to pick up the pieces.

The pressure, fear, worries, and doubt we have in the unknown.

Reading the story of Moses and how he leads God’s people out of Egypt can be inspiring that God can use anyone to do anything. At the same time, the amount of pressure and responsibility Moses must have felt.

In Exodus chapter 18 it speaks about how Moses stood around all day being a judge for people. Moses’s father-in-law saw what he was doing and gave him advice. Jethro, Moses’s father-in-law, told Moses he would wear himself out doing this. Jethro told him to look for able men among all the people, men who fear God, are trustworthy, and hate dishonest gain; set such men over them as officers over thousands, hundreds, the fifties, and tens. Let them sit as judges for the people at all times; let them bring every important case to Moses, but decide every minor case themselves.

It is so great to have a Jethro in our lives. Surround yourself with people who care to help and give you advice.

When we do feel overwhelmed and like there is no one there. Just remember He is working all things for our good.
