As I read Colossians 3:12 it list a number of things we should clothe ourselves with. Long suffering was the one that truly stuck out to me. Another word for long suffering is patience.
” Patience : Accepting a difficult situation without giving God a deadline to remove it. ” – Bill Gothard
The word patience alone is annoying to me.
Whenever someone tells you to be patience doesn’t it get on your nerves?
Ruth in the Bible is know for being loyal. She was loyal even when she knew she would suffer for her loyalty to Naomi.
Have you ever had a time where one road would lead to suffering and the other road would lead you to a blessing?
What if the road to the blessing meant you had to leave someone behind. Would you still take this road?
Naomi told Ruth to go back to her people and remarry. Ruth refused she wanted to stay with Naomi. She did not want to leave her mother -in-law alone. Orpah Naomi’s other daughter-in-law left Naomi to go back to her people.
In this situation which who would you be Ruth or Orpah?
Ruth stay with Naomi and started to glean the fields for food her and Naomi. In the field Ruth found favor in Boaz . Boaz purposely left extra grain for Ruth in the field.
Even when you are in a time of suffering if you look hard enough you can find a helping hand.
Ruth and Boaz became married. Ruth then conceived a son who’s name was Obed. Obed was the grandfather of King David.
Sometimes long suffering leads to great success. Sacrificing for a small amount of time can bring a life of joy in the end.
