Offended?

Can Christians get offended?

In the world today people wear the feelings on their sleeves. Emotions are high. It seems people actually enjoy arguing. There is always an on going debate between people. It has become a sport. The one that can offend the other person more gets the highest score.

Should Christians participate in this?

Should we wear our feelings on our sleeves?

A Person’s Wisdom Yields Patience ;  it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

-Proverbs 19:11

It is so common to see people arguing over politics , beliefs , and lifestyles. If people do not see eye to eye they get angry about it. At times I see Christians getting angry with others. Many Christians get offended when others attack their beliefs. We let our religions get in the way of our love for one another. When getting offended I have seen many Christians not acting like Christ.

How should we act when someone is being offensive toward us?

The truth is we are going to get offended. Our feelings are going to be hurt. People are going to attack our belief in God. They will question you on everything the Bible says. Even though we may get hurt it is our reactions that make the difference.

Live wisely among those who are not believers , and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

–  Colossians 4:5-6

Salt and light. That is what we are called to be. Everyday we have the opportunity to show others what it means to be a true Christian. How we respond to someone that wrongs us can change their view on Christians. When showing mercy to others it allows them see the peace you have in your life. Even when you are in a difficult situation you still remain calm shows the peace God has given you. Controlling your emotions also shows wisdom.

The world is led by their emotions , but we are led by the Holy Spirit.

Controlling your emotions shows wisdom.

  1. I’m so glad you talked about this because I actually wrote on post about how we aren’t suppose to be passionate Christians (regarding passion tends to be related to our anger, etc). I agree with all the points you made. Though we will be upset, we need to be humble.
You’re right about the salt and the light!

  2. Love this 🙂 At one point in time I found myself getting caught up in arguments/debates of this nature and then one day I thought…why? What is the point? All I can do is try to lead by example. A good example instead of trying in vain to make someone see what I see. People are entitled to their beliefs and opinions just as much as I am so instead of feeding into social media firestorms I just write about what speaks to me and hope it will speak to others. It has made my life much easier! lol
