Love Yourself

A second is equally important: ‘Love neighbor as yourself’. – Matthew 22:39

When we first look at this verse we know to love our neighbor. We know to love others like Jesus loves them. ( John 15:12)

Looking at the verse for second time I have notice that you have to love yourself before loving others. The verse states to love your neighbor as yourself.

If you do not love yourself how can you love others?

I think it is so hard for people to show love to others , because they have trouble loving themselves. We fear what others will think of us. We are wrapped up in our own insecurities.

Loving ourselves more can help us open up to others. We wouldn’t worry about what others think about us so much.

So how to love yourself ?

Love is patient , Love is kind – 1 Corinthians 13:4

Be patient with yourself. When you are trying to achieve something be patient with yourself. When you fall and make a mistake be patient with yourself. Give yourself time to grow and learn new things. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself ,but instead give it to God.

Be kind with yourself. Remind yourself who you are. You were created by The Creator. He called you a masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)

Touching each other with their welcoming words
Having never seen another face to face at all
Embracing life pages as their words are now heard

Eating from the same table of Gods creative delight
As daily we are filled with amazing genuine words
Finding our great love for sharing helps us to unite

With our individual gifts trying not to leave one behind
As we all are part of the same beautiful sharing coverlet
Full of the real love which our God always had in mind

Even though we as humans in many ways are the same
We each are gifted specifically by His heavenly design
Being bound to the loving spirit of sharing our words
To shine radiantly through others His true love divine

United we become a real compelling power to others

You make the world smile my sister!!!!

  2. I’ll admit, I have a difficult time with the concept of “loving myself.” I settle with “I don’t hate myself.”

I think because I equate “loving self” to egotism and arrogance, I don’t like the term.

But I get your point, and it is there in Scripture. We must think of others as much or more as we care for our own welfare. Five little words; love God, love my neighbor.

God bless you and your family; may you have a blessed Christmas season.

    1. I agree with you. I don’t like the term “love yourself” that much either. When writing this I had in mind people that deal with depression. We should be happy with the person God made us to be. Flaws and all.
God bless you too! You have a very bless Christmas season as well!

  3. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

      1. You’re welcome! Oh, lol well we don’t really celebrate thanksgiving here in the Caribbean but we do give God thanks always!
