My heart has been heavy. Everywhere I look I don’t see unity. I see arguments , hate towards one another ,and angry in many people’s hearts.

There is not division just in this world, but among Christians. Division in churches. Division in families. Division in communities.

I searched the word of God on “division.” I thought there would be 1 or 2 verses , but there is actually many verses.

God warns us in the Bible that people and the enemy will try to divide us. People will try to divide us for their ungodly passions. (Jude 1:18-19)

If the enemy can not attack us as a whole , he will divide us. Dividing people can probably do more harm than attacking people as a whole. Dividing people can be more harmful , because where there is division there is confusion.

God never wants His church to be divide , but he want us to be united together. Where there is unity there is strength.

Lately I have seen Christians arguing with Christians about things that are of this world. We  argue about things that will one day all pass away. Being angry and worried about things in this world will only divide us more. (Colossians 3:2)

Our focus should never be on things around us ,but on thing above.

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

-Romans 16:17-18

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

– 1 Corinthians 1:10-13

But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

-Titus 3:9-11

But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls.

– Luke 11:17

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage. But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.

– Jude 1:16-19

  1. Love this post. This is something I have been finding really disheartening recently as well and have been looking at some of these verses. Thanks for sharing, God bless.

  2. Amen 🙂 it’s very true. Christians struggle with “being right,” I’ve noticed. And even there is good intentions against accusations, it never helps.

  3. 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Matthew 12:25-28
